X2...how much live rock are you planning on getting. Hope you can make it to the meeting.

sounds like your well on your way the skimmer generally needs to be rated twice the vollum of your tank.and the aragalive sand should have packets of bacteris to activate the sand in them.and if you tell us we can get together and get you some water from our waterchanger to help jump start yout system.Just ask.
I kept freshwater aquariums for years, but sold most of my stuff about 7 years ago when I had to relocate for a new job. I have decided that it's high time to get back into the hobby, except this time I'm doing to do saltwater.
Hello TCRC!
I was at Aquatics & Exotics yesterday and saw the club flier on the counter. I was surprised and pleased to find a local club!
I bought myself a 150g tank and stand combo from Sea Oddities for christmas, but it's still at the store. I have had some trouble finding a truck and muscle to borrow to help me move it. Hopefully I'll have it soon.
Anyways... I've been doing a lot of research online and I plan on doing a deep sand bed (3+ inches) and live rock in the main tank plus a DSB, LR, and macro algae in my sump's refugium section.
I'll start a tank build thread once I start going, but here's what I've got so far:
Tank: 150g Aqueon
Stand: 18x72 Aqueon Modern Series Stand (Oak)
This stand is MUCH nicer than the stand pine ones.
RODI: Typhoon III Extreme from Air, Water, & Ice.
This is a 150GPD unit with an in/out TDS meter.
Skimmer: AquaC EV-180
I bought this skimmer years ago we I was planning a 75g system. I'm worried it might be to small for a 150. Been thinking about selling it and getting one of newer needle wheel designs. The Trigger Systems Bursa looks very nice.
Substrate: Carbisea Aragamax
I currently have 150lbs and have another 180lbs ordered for a total of 330lbs. I hope that'll be enuf for at least 3" deep sand bed. I plan on getting the live sand activator kit from http://www.ipsf.com/livesand.html.
