I'll go to the net and see if they will reproduce in captivity.

I'll paste what I find.....

This Article is from Julian Sprung and informative;

I dont know how it happend but i have acquired 3rd feather duster. I had one bright green and one neon yellow for about 6 months now. Well the other night i was looking at the tank and the feather dusters had moved from where they had been for the last several monthes and there was a new green one it is only about 1 to 2 inches long but has a full grown head on it. I dont know if they breed or what  they do if anybody has any ideas on this let me know

biggrinI think that is a awesome idea to try a tank full and see if thay will spawn.. Mine seem to be doing pretty good feeding them phyto and coral frenzy.

Starting sometime in the late 70's, I kept FD's in my tanks only to watch them drop their Heads (gills/feeding tentacles), wither and die. There were no Phytoplankton Products, Coral Frenzies and the advent of the Protein Skimmer was still several years away, the Actinic 03 Bulb didn't show up until the mid 80's.

In the last 5 or 6 years, I've tried them with good success.
Weekly 10 to 20% Water Changes are a must.
Adequate flow works well (but don't bruise the feather with too much flow).
Phyto is much needed as well as homemade Coral Soups or the Coral Frenzy type foods.
I'd like to setup a tank with maybe two dozen FD's, keep them well fed and see if they will spawn in captivity.
Isn't it the goal of most Pet Keepers to Have a Happy, Healthy Animal. Evidence of this IS Reproduction.

With reports of hard to keep Corals Spawning in Captive Reef Tanks, this Hobby gets much more Promising.

Please give feedback.
