  1. I stand behind it, some say that your sal****er mix does the same thing as long as your parameters are correct, I agree with that to an extent.  Purple Up I think mainly is for corraline algae expansion. In my 125 gallon in our greenville office it looks like barney exploded in it, its insanely purple. I just like the fact you can "cheat" and use the product for an iodine supplement, but also it does have ten micron aragonite which targets the live rock surface, where it dissolves in place delivering calcium, strontium, magnesium and carbonate right where its needed. I just like it for its "all around purpose" . Several research articles on it state that there is no long term bad effects as long as you keep your tank within "stable parameters".

Iodine is very useful also for coralline algae growth, a supplement such as purple up is a iodine replenishment additive as well as adding ionic calcium and aragonite. I have had great results with it

thats about what i add i read everywhere that anemones, xenia, and other inverts need the iodine but without proper testing it can be hazardous to the tank.
so like you i add maybe 2 drops a week of lugols solution.

It may be a very low dose, I add one drop of Mtn. Reef Lugols per week

ok to start with I HATE the seachem iodine test kit.

We discussed the use of iodine at the last meeting, but for those who didnt show up, who out there uses iodine as a maintenance supplement in their tanks?
